How AI subtitle generation works

The app uses Whisper, the state-of-the-art open speech-recognition model, running locally via an optimized engine. It extracts the audio track from your video with FFmpeg, feeds it through the model, and produces subtitle cues with word-accurate timing, punctuation and sensible line breaks — saved as a standard .srt next to your video.

Because everything runs on-device, generation is private (nothing leaves your machine) and free to run as often as you like. On Apple Silicon Macs and modern PCs, a feature film transcribes far faster than real time.
