How to translate SRT subtitles into another language
Found subtitles in the wrong language? AI Subtitle Studio translates subtitle files with DeepSeek AI while preserving every timestamp, line break and cue — so the translated subtitles stay perfectly in sync with the video. Works with SRT and ASS files, and with tracks extracted straight from your videos.
Why subtitle translation is not just text translation
Pasting subtitle text into a translator breaks things: timestamps get mangled, line breaks vanish, and cues merge. A proper subtitle translator works cue by cue:
- Lines are translated in batches with surrounding lines as context, but the timing structure is never touched.
- Line lengths are kept readable so text doesn't overflow the screen.
- ASS styling tags are preserved around the translated text.
- Legacy encodings are auto-detected first, so accented source characters translate correctly.
This step needs a DeepSeek API key
Translation is powered by DeepSeek's AI models over the internet — unlike transcription and subtitle syncing in AI Subtitle Studio, which run fully offline. Add a free API key from platform.deepseek.com/api_keys under Settings → AI Providers once, then translation is available everywhere in the app. DeepSeek bills your key directly for usage; AI Subtitle Studio doesn't add its own translation fee on top.
From any source to any language
The translation input can be a sidecar .srt/.ass file, a track extracted from an MKV/MP4, an OCR-converted Blu-ray subtitle, or a subtitle just transcribed from audio. That means the full pipeline — rip → OCR → translate or transcribe → translate — happens in one app.
