The editor workspace
Opening a file from the file list switches to the full editor — a dedicated workspace for one file at a time, with a two-row header of actions above the subtitle table and waveform.
Header row 1
- List — saves your current edits back into the file list item and returns to the list view.
- Undo / Redo — steps backward/forward through your edit history.
- Save — if the subtitles came from a known file on disk, overwrites it directly. Otherwise opens a "Save As" dialog with format choices (SRT, VTT, ASS/SSA, SubViewer, TTML, or all formats).
- Export — opens the format picker described in Exporting and saving. Disabled if there are no subtitles yet.
- Tracks (N) — reopens the track selector for the current video, in case you want to load a different track. Shows a pulsing dot if nothing is loaded yet.
- A folder-open icon — load a different video directly into the editor, bypassing the list.
- A "×" — clears the loaded video/subtitles entirely, resetting the editor to empty (the file stays in the list; this only clears the open workspace).
Header row 2
- Auto-Sync — opens the sync dialog. See Syncing to audio.
- Clean Up — opens the free, offline, rule-based cleanup dialog. See The Cleanup tool.
- AI Clean Up — only appears at all if you've configured a DeepSeek API key. Opens a separate, cloud-based cleanup powered by AI. See AI Clean Up.
Both Auto-Sync and Clean Up are disabled if no subtitles are loaded yet.
Unsaved changes indicator
An orange dot next to the filename in the header, plus "Unsaved edits" / "All changes saved" text in the footer, tell you whether your current edits have been written to disk. If you try to close the app with unsaved changes, a confirmation prompt warns you before losing them.
Subtitle-only files
If you open a subtitle file with no accompanying video, an info banner explains that waveform, playback and audio-based sync aren't available — with a shortcut to open the matching video if you have one. In this state, "Sync with Video Audio" is greyed out in the sync dialog (only "Sync with Reference Subtitle" works), and the waveform panel shows "No audio waveform available" instead of a waveform.
