Sermon Mode
Sermon Mode is a workspace for long recordings: it transcribes a sermon with your church's vocabulary, cleans the transcript, detects Bible references and lets you review them, then exports subtitles or a transcript. It needs a license. Projects are saved automatically and can be reopened later.
Church Profiles
A Church Profile holds what every sermon of yours shares. Open Church Profiles in the Sermon Mode menu and create one with:
- Church name, default sermon language and default Bible translation.
- Speakers — add the pastors and others who preach; the default speaker is pre-selected for a new sermon.
- Church vocabulary — the church name, pastor and worship leader names, ministry names, theological terms and local names, fed to transcription so they are spelled correctly. It is limited to 900 characters.
- Default cleanup mode and default export formats (SRT, VTT, TXT).
Starting a sermon
Choose New Sermon and work through the form: select a recording (an audio or video file; 30 to 120+ minutes is fine), the Church Profile, the speaker, the sermon language, the transcription model, and the cleanup mode. The profile’s vocabulary is shown, with a link to edit it there. Then click Create Sermon.
Three cleanup modes control how the raw transcript is treated:
| Verbatim | Preserves the spoken wording as closely as practical. |
|---|---|
| Clean | Removes obvious speech artifacts while preserving meaning and natural style. |
| Publication | A more polished transcript suitable for publication. |
Long jobs — transcription, translation and AI detection — keep running if you leave the project, and finish into it.
Reviewing Bible references
The workspace shows the transcript beside a Bible reference panel. Detect references finds citations such as John 3:16, Romans 8:28, Ephesians 2:8-9 or Psalm 23. This standard detection works offline. Matching expects the book name to be capitalised, and an abbreviation only counts when written with a chapter and verse, so a phrase like “my ex 2 years ago” is not read as Exodus 2.
AI-assisted detection additionally finds references spoken in words, and needs a DeepSeek key (Settings → AI Providers). The AI only identifies the reference; the passage text always comes from the Bible stored in the app.
Each detected reference can be accepted, edited (book, chapter, start and end verse, or the whole chapter) or ignored, and an ignored one can be restored. Your decisions are authoritative: detecting again keeps references you accepted, ignored or edited. Clicking a reference opens the passage and lets you jump to the sermon timestamp where it was spoken.
The Bible viewer
Passages are read from Bible text stored in the app, so the viewer works offline. The app includes the World English Bible. Bible passages are never inserted into subtitle files.
Translating, re-transcribing and exporting
Translate produces a translation of the sermon that keeps timestamps and structure; if you change the transcript afterwards, the export warns that the translation may no longer match. In the workspace you can rename a sermon, relink a recording that has moved, or transcribe again — which replaces the transcript, discards your edits and re-detects references (accepted, ignored and corrected ones are not kept).
Export asks for a folder and writes the formats you choose: SRT, VTT or TXT, as the original or the translation. For the text export you can show Bible reference annotations and, optionally, include the full passage text. Subtitle files never include Bible passages.
